WHEREAS, the Carpinteria Lions Club was chartered October 27, 1997; and

WHEREAS, on October 26, 1997 the Lions Club will complete 70 years of dedicated and effective service to the people of Carpinteria; and

WHEREAS, during the past 70 years the Lions Club members have contributed through their untiring personal and collective efforts to the betterment of the Carpinteria Valley through such important projects as providing Carpinteria’s first ambulance; conducting a tree planting program, assistance in providing the first lighting at Memorial Field and the tennis courts, ongoing support of the School District’s annual vision screening program, sponsorship of the local student speakers contest, and the purchase, development and maintenance of Carpinteria Lions Park and newly constructed Community Building.

WHEREAS, in appreciation of such outstanding service, the Carpinteria City Council, on behalf of the people of Carpinteria, wishes to recognize the Lions Club on their 70^th anniversary.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CARPINTERIA CITY COUNCIL HEREBY RESOLVES, that the Carpinteria Lions Club, its members, past and present, and their families, be commended and congratulated for their 70 years of service to the people of Carpinteria.
