Polyester Linen Fabric (Wide Width)

Polyester fabric is an ideal material for use as an archival lining for paintings because it does not "breathe" like natural materials. This property of polyester means the support fabric will not display expansion and contraction with changes in relative humidity. Our polyester linen is made of 100% polyester fabric that is removed from the production line before any finishes are applied. It is totally free of all sizing and finishing resins, especially melamine-formaldehyde. The fabric is light tan in color and is made with two different colored threads which gives this fabric a weave pattern that makes it look like a true natural linen. It has a basis weight of 6.5 oz per sq. yard and is 0.016" in thickness. This fabric is available in both the standard 60" and an extra wide 120" width. The 60" wide material is rolled on a tube. The 88" and 120" wide material is not shipped rolled on a tube due to shipping restrictions that limit packages to 108" in length. Instead, we fold the fabric in half and soft fold it to fit in a box.

Linen Fabric

Our linen fabrics are made from 100% natural linen fiber. None of our linens have dyes and are completely free of all finishes.

Belgique is 100% Belgian Linen, Natural in color, medium weave, medium weight and is available in 54" and 72" width.

Contessa is Belgian Linen/Cotton blend, Natural in color, finer weave, medium weight and is available in 55" width.

Granada is 100% Belgian Linen, Beige in color, coarser weave, medium weight and is available in 54" width.

Orion is 100% Belgian Linen, Oatmeal in color, finer weave, medium weight and is available in 60" width.

Taos is 100% Belgian Linen, Natural in color, coarser weave, heavier weight and is available in 54" width.

Reemay

Reemay spunbounded polyester is a nonwoven fabric of continuous filament polyester fibers that are randomly arranged, highly dispersed and thermally bonded at the filament junctions. Because Reemay is 100% polyester, it has only about 0.5% moisture pickup at 98% RH. It has excellent resistance to solvents, acids and alkalis. Temperatures up to 350° F will not affect it. Reemay is an excellent material for lining and backing paper and fabrics.

Hollytex

Hollytex spunbounded polyester is a sheet structure of continuous filament polyester fibers that have been compacted by a unique process involving simultaneous application of heat, pressure, and tension for a carefully controlled length of time. The result is an ultra-smooth finish. The randomly arranged, continuous filament structure, and compacting of Hollytex endow it with an exceptional combination of physical properties. Among the distinguishing characteristics of Hollytex are high tensile and tear strength, no media migration, non-raveling edges, good chemical resistance to acids, oxidizing agents and solvents, good dimensional stability in all directions, resistance to rot and mildew. Hollytex does not contain any resins, sizing or binders. The chemical and thermal properties of Hollytex are essentially those of polyester fiber.

Our PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) backed polyester felt is 1/16" in thickness by 36" in width. It’s available in five colors: White, Hunter Green, Dark Brown, Black and Gray. Price is per lineal foot (1 foot by 36 inches), with a (1) lineal foot minimum.

We also offer polyester felt without the pressure sensitive adhesive. Our plain polyester felt is 1/16" in thickness by 72" in width. It’s available in five colors: White, Hunter Green, Dark Brown, Black and Gray. Price is per lineal yard (1 yard by 72 inches), with a (1) lineal yard minimum.

Felt Tape (PSA Backed)

We had this PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) backed polyester felt tape made for all the painting conservators who requested it to protect the surface of paintings from the bare wood of frame rabbets. All rolls are 1/16" in thickness and are 50’ in length. We stock three different widths, 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" in two colors, dark brown and black. Other widths and colors are available upon special request with a 6 roll minimum.

Polyester Fabrics

Polyester Sailcloth (Completely Unsized)

Our sailcloth is manufactured in Germany and finished here in the United States. The sailcloth is 100% polyester fabric, pure white in color, and has a basis weight of 5.0 oz. The sailcloth is removed from the production line before any finishes are applied, therefore it is totally free of all finishing resins, especially melamine-formaldehyde. The fabric is scoured to remove all contaminants and then heat-set at 400° F to tighten the weave. This pre-shrinking of the material eliminates the possibility of shrinking or warping during most lining process using heat setting techniques. Our polyester sailcloth is 58" in width and available in 10, 25 and 50 yard rolls.
