THE STORY OF ![]() Ingeborg's traditional Danish chocolate recipes were first brought to Solvang by Ingeborg Larsen, who opened her tiny chocolate shop here in 1961 and was later joined by her sister Carla. Ingeborg had worked as a chocolate dipper for one Denmark's largest chocolate factories, and eventually opened her own chocolate shop in Copenhagen, Denmark. When she came to America, she brought with her from the Old Country many of her original recipes, some of which are now over 70 years old. With her sister Carla, she began Solvang's new tradition of handmade chocolate artistry. My wife Inge-Lise and I purchased the chocolate factory in 1976. With Carla, we worked for many years perfecting Ingeborg's art and adding to the original recipes as time went by. Today we still proudly create these wondrous treats on the premises, with over 70 different outstanding chocolates to choose from. For even the most discriminating chocolate lover, these are truly incomparable gourmet chocolates; soft centers, assorted nuts on swirls of chocolate, smooth light chocolate truffles and crunchy after-dinner peppermints, orange, and raspberry sticks---these are just some of our irresistible creations. Artfully arranged in beautiful gift boxes and tins, our gourmet chocolates are still handmade and freshly packed each day right here in our Solvang shop.
