- Online Help System for Digital Sound Corp., Carpinteria, CA.
- As a staff writer for Digital Sound, I am helping create online documentation for our integrated messaging platform. This documentation is aimed at network administrators and MIS personnel. Our chief customers are telecommunications service providers, such as GTE.
Tools Used: Blue Sky Software's Robo Help; Microsoft Word and Excel, Visio Professional.
- Wrote software manual for GRC International
- This manual was for NetworkVUE, a tool for configuring Wide Area Networks. The product allows users to select from a series of various component and service options, then creates a model network based on these options. Users can change components, price and speed requirements, etc., then create new models based on these different options. NetworkVUE is scheduled for release in late 1996. The manual is still in production.

- Wrote software manual for Meta Tools, Inc.
- This manual was for Final Effects, an add-on module for Adobe's After Effects, which is a professional logo animation tool used by television and film studios to create a wide variety of very high quality animation effects, such as pixel explosions, fountain effects, color transforms, etc.

- Wrote software manual for Internet Dynamics (IDI)
- This manual was for Critical Link, the software component of AT&T's secure Internet service, targeted chiefly at Fortune 500 companies. Critical Link provides a secure Internet gateway that allows company employees to access all of the Internet's services (WWW, E-Mail, FTP, Gopher, etc.), while preventing unauthorized parties on the Internet from accessing the company's computer network. In addition to being one of three technical writers on the development team, I was solely responsible for creating an HTML version of the manual to be used for online reference.
The document is targeted chiefly at network administrators, providing complete instructions for installing and configuring the system. All configuration is done via Web pages that use Perl scripts, however no knowledge of Perl is required.
Tools Used: FrameMaker 5.1 for Windows and UNIX, Microsoft Word for Windows, HTML, and FrameMaker Web editing utility to create hypertext indexes.
- Wrote training manual for Advanced Cartridge Recharging
- This is a training manual for ACR's sales force, covering both sales and installation methods.
Tools Used: Microsoft Word for Windows, CorelDRAW 5.0 and Photo Paint 5.0,
- Authored over two dozen technical tip sheets for Arc Tangent, Inc.
- As a technical support representative for Arc Tangent, a mailing list database publisher, I created tip sheets in answer to frequently asked questions. These sheets were faxed to users, reducing the length of an average support call by thirty percent.
Tools Used: Microsoft Word for DOS
- CompuWest, Santa Barbara, CA
- Work on referral basis for customers requiring help with small documentation projects. Have also helped CompuWest evaluate Internet, graphics and desktop publishing software applications for customer demos.

- Wrote software manual and newsletters for Benefit Software, Inc.
- Wrote user manual for a database product used to track Worker's Compensation claims. Wrote and edited a quarterly newsletter for product end users.
Tools Used: AmiPro for Windows, Microsoft Publisher, various screen capture programs.
- Wrote manual for Softbank International
- This manual was targeted at contributors to Softbank's CD-ROM online software catalog. The manual contained sales and promotional material, and also instructed software engineers in how to prepare their products for inclusion in the catalog. Softbank is the Japanese-owned firm that owns and operates the Comdex computer shows.
- Tools Used: Microsoft Word for Windows, various screen capture programs.
