Gaviota Coast Wind Safety Project
Gaviota NB Hwy 101 Truck Accident

CHP Motor Officers from the Goleta CHP Station lend a hand with this incident that is in the Buellton CHP's area.

The Gaviota area has been recently acknowledged as a Safety Corridor which helps out local Goleta and Buellton CHP officers with additional patrols and law enforcement efforts to keep the Gaviota Coast safe.

This photograph captures a gasoline tanker driving by the accident scene, dusting the CHP officers. Commonly, people do not move over, away from the rescuers. Having a pre-warning sign, prior to the Gaviota Curve as we call it, would enable motorists to be advised to stay out of the number two lane to enhance officer and firefighter safety.
Sometimes, weather stations and webcams are combined to provide concurrent weather and video images for the Caltrans Traffic Management Centers and Emergency Communication Dispatch Centers.
Having a camcorder view as well as weather data will enable immediate recognition of traffic accidents or severe inclement weather for emergency responders and forecasters.
