Gaviota Coast Wind Safety Project

Caltrans Live Streaming Video Highway Webcams

Caltrans live streaming video webcams are located statewide in areas where traffic congestion or weather related concerns dictate monitoring the highway. Many of these areas have been identified as Safety Corridors.

The use of these webcams throughout the Gaviota Coast corridor will provide live feedback for areas commonly known as hot spots or dangerous areas and can be continually monitored by emergency communication dispatchers.

The Gaviota area was recently identified as a highway safety corridor by the CHP and Caltrans. Accidents frequently occur between El Capitan State Beach and the Nojoqui Grade. Recent highway upgrades such as concrete Jersey Rails and major overhauls to the Gaviota Rest Stop area will help reduce the potential for head on collisions.
