A 1,000 square foot addition (bathroom, two bedrooms, recreation and dining rooms) to an existing home in Goleta exceeded Title 24 requirements by 22% simply by installing a more efficient water heater, dual glazed windows and insulated water pipes. These improvements cost approximately $400.00 more than the standard features, and the savings per year in utility bills is estimated to be $200.00. This was the first project to receive an approval stamp from the Committee.

A 150,000 SF studio office complex exceeded Title 24 by 35% and reduced its utility bill by $90,000 per year. Special features included low temperature distribution air conditioning, energy-efficient computers, lighting sensors, daylighting controls, and high performance window glazing. The initial investment for these features was paid back in just over two years.
