What's new from Jolly Games!

CodeFire is out of business.

The Wiz-War IP has reverted back to Jolly Games. The contract with them is no longer in effect.

Derelict

This game pits teams of asteroid miners against each other as they compete to claim an alien ship adrift in the asteroid belt. Alien artifacts, robots, aliens, changing gravity, a lack of air, and mean competing asteroid miners make this a tough task. All you have to do is drop 8 "claim beacons" in rooms in the alien ship to claim it for your own, while crushing any "enemy" claim beacons you come across. Fortunately, you've got all these weird alien devices to help you out that you've been finding all over the place. Unfortunately, so has everyone else. This game could be out by the end of the year. Contract pending.

Cargo

If you worked for a tea company, but were asked to help out at the Boston Tea Party, what would you do? The natural thing to do is to toss the tea from all your competitors into the harbor, while pushing all your tea off the dock onto your company ship. Too bad everyone else had the same idea. This game could be out by the end of the year, too, contract pending.

Villages

Much closer to completion. I've finally got a version that I like a lot that plays quickly and only has one page of rules. This is a game wherein you, as Baron, "buy" villagers to come to your village. There's a deck of villagers you may purchase, and each helps build your village and make you more money. A good game of economics, bidding, and character interaction. Chessex might produce it.

Ooze

This is still delayed. You are a mutating protozoan, competing for food sources and mutagens, and eating other protozoans on the board. Chessex also might publish this one this year. This one is a lot of fun (but is taking forever for me to "finish up"!

Behemoth

On the backburner due to other projects. Still in work, but might get renamed as "Plasma", for various good design reasons, and the theme might change quite a bit, too. This is an asteroid-miner game, where each of the miners gets to design their own ship. The rules are easy and the ship design has LOTS of options. The players then vie for an Alien Artifact adrift in the asteroid belt. This is really a fun game, and I expect it to do better than Wiz-War, but due to component cost, it may be awhile before it gets to market. Or be redesigned.

Six-Gun

Players are dealt 6 "bullets" which they can use over and over (one per turn, place face up). Each "bullet" does something different, but lots of them just damage other players, others have very unique abilities. These are, for the most part, the only cards you get for the game. You start with 10 pints o' blood, which get lost to the blood pool as you lose them. Rather a tongue-in-cheek version of the OK Corral. The major complaint from playtesters is that they don't like shooting their friends. Hey, it's a game, folks!

Wiz-War

The newest edition of Wiz-War (8th edition) is due out sometime before the end of history. More cards, new spells, real playing cards, color "artwork" on the cards.
